Hailing from the Orange Free State where he grew up on a grain and cattle farm, Pieter converted to winemaking when he went to study in Stellenbosch.
He completed his winemaking degree at Elsenburg Agricultural College before spending seven years as an assistant winemaker in the Helderberg area of Stellenbosch before becoming Winemaker at Edgebaston.
He has a penchant for the weird and wonderful and enjoys experimenting with lesser known grape varieties.
The list of awards and top ratings for the wines produced under the David Finlayson and Camino Africana brands continues to grow globally under Pieter’s watch.
